Fall Apple Wreath Kids Craft
This is a beautiful project that children enjoy making and will make your home and classroom look pretty and smell wonderful.
Materials needed:apples, cardboard, cinnamon sticks, fall leaves, rafia, glue gun,
Turn the oven to 200F. Slice the apple into thin slices horizontally and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet in a single layer. Place in oven. After one hour turn the slices over and bake another hour. Turn off oven and leave apples in oven for an hour or more until they are lightly brown. They will dry further once on the wreath.
Trace around a dinner plate on cardboard or a cereal box and cut out a circle. Using a smaller plate trace a smaller circle inside the larger one. Cut out the centre.
Go outside and choose different kinds of colourful leaves making sure they are as flat as possible.
Glue the leaves around the circle with white glue or a glue gun.
Take 5-6 apple slices and glue around the circle with a glue gun. Add 3 or 4 cinnamon sticks in between the apple slices.
Take 3-4 strands of rafia and tie into a bow. Glue the bow onto the top, side or bottom of the wreath. Take a single strand and make a loop around the top of the wreath to hang it up.
If you want to add bunting use sticker letters or magazine letters attached to small triangles to say Thanks or Thankful and attach to a rafia strand.
Allow children to taste the remainder of the apple slices. They are delicious! These wreaths will look beautiful in your classroom or on your door at home and let everyone enjoy the colours and smells of fall.
